Thinking about switching from a natural grass football field to a synthetic turf field? The facts speak for themselves. Not only does switching to a synthetic turf field cut down on the maintenance costs of mowing, watering, and landscaping, synthetic turf fields can improve your athlete’s performance and protect your players from injuries.
At General sports surfaces we start from the bottom and work our way up, cutting no corners along the way. Lime stabilization, fine laser grading, filtered rock, drainage systems, shock pads, and the highest quality, lab tested, synthetic turf on the market are all steps in the process that our expert team meticulously tackles. No detail too small, nor project too large. Let General Sports Surfaces go to work for you and we’ll score the game-winning touchdown.
Football can cause as much wear and tear on your field as it can your players. From tears in the seams or turf to worn down spots, these not only make your field look bad but can also be a safety hazard to your athletes. So whether you need a completely new turf field or just a spot here and there, we can handle any size job and it will be completed with the highest quality, lab tested, turfs, infills, and shock pads in the industry by our expert team of experienced installers.
General Sports Surfaces not only replaces and patches the turf that you need; we also rework the base of your field using a fine laser grade to get your field back on level. We don’t cut any corners when it comes to the work we do because we are just as passionate about it as you are about football. If you are looking to get your football field back in peak shape so your players are safe, and you want your field to look amazing again, contact us today!
E-Layers not only add an extra level of drainage to your field so that it properly and uniformly drains, they also add another level of safety to your field by cushioning the impact of the surface. At General Sports Surfaces our e-layer is completely permeable and is comprised of the same rubber granules found in our state-of-the-art tracks.
Poured in-place, our e-layer does not have the seams typically found in other resilient under layers. Our e-layer offers the most consistent surface level as well as the most permanent base available for safe g-max levels over the life span of your football field. If you want to add years to your football field while also adding a consistently safe surface to your field, contact us to learn more about getting an e-layer installed today!
Let the opposing team know who’s field they’re on by customizing your field with a logo and/or custom colors. From school to local club logos or mascots we can design and create any logo, mascot, or color scheme you desire. All design work is done in house and we can match any color you’re looking for. Our expert team of installers can handle any size job and any size logo and pay attention to every detail that goes into the installation process.
Weather its spelled out in the end zone or smack dab in the middle of the field, the quality and precision you get when you choose General Sports Surfaces cannot be matched. Be bold, make it large, and put fear into the opponents when they step onto your football field by adding a custom logo, design, or mascot to your field today!
Overtime, no matter the quality of the turf, field maintenance and repairs are inevitable.Whether it’s a loose seem or the infill is too packed down, our expert team can fix it.
MAINTENANCE PROGRAMS GSS’S STANDARDS OF CARE
TESTING ONLY PACKAGE AVAILABLE
Testing Package – 20 Locations
A. Gmax, HIC for Natural Grass
B. Gmax, HIC, Infill Depth and Pile Height measurements for Artificial Turf
- Grooming/Cleaning
GSS utilizes the SMG Sport Champ Machine to vigorously brush and vacuum the turf system. - The grooming pattern brushes the playing surface in all four directions…
Unlike the simple brushing done with a GreensGroomer, the combined action of the SportChamp brush and vacuum removes much more lint, dirt and debris that could affect player safety (e.g. bobby pins, paper clips, gravel, etc.). Infill de-compaction available: The rake tine attachment is used to de-compact the infill when necessary.
- Inspection
The visual inspection covers seams, hash marks, numbers, arrows, logos, planarity, rips, tears and high traffic areas. All areas of concern are documented in a report submitted to the owner. - Depth Check
Infill Depth/Pile Height: GSS uses an ASTM approved infill depth gauge. At each of the 20 test locations, infill depth is measured three times and the average is recorded. Pile height is also measured and recorded. Consistent, regular monitoring of infill depth and pile height will reveal wear patterns and trends in fiber loss, especially as the field approaches end of life, and will be key indicators for field replacement - Spot Repair
The Turf Technician will also perform spot repairs of small sections where seams or inlays are lifting. He may repair by either hand sewing or regluing using industry accepted adhesive. Longer seams which requiring significant time and materials are subject to approval and additional fees. Infill additions, base work and edge reattachment are not included in the package price. Please see the report for recorded data. Recommendations will be provided if requested. - HIC Test
HIC stands for Head Injury Criterion and is used to gauge the probability of head injury potential resulting from a surface impact. The Triax 2010 records the data at the same time as the GMAX and is provided in the report. The higher the HIC, the more severe and dangerous the impact is to the player. In order to better understand the field's performance, we use 20 test locations instead of 10. This is an additional premium service GSS provides that is included in all packages
GMAX Test
ASTM F1936 establishes a test method and maximum impact attenuation value for all types of installed turf playing systems and for several sport-specific field layouts. The Gmax equipment used by GSS fully complies with ASTM F355-A in design and function. The Triax 2010 A-Missile system uses a 20-pound “missile” with a tri-axial accelerometer dropped from a height of 24 inches to measurethe maximum G-force encountered at impact of the playing surface. When testing multisport fields, GSS will combine our 20 test locations into one integrated map that covers each sport to meet the GMAX reporting requirements for all sports included on the field of play. The ASTM specifies 10 test locations; GSS uses 20 test locations to provide a more comprehensive evaluation of the field.
*Each visit is followed by a field report from the Qualified Turf Technician who visited the field. Field maintenance, on average, will be completed within a day. GSS uses ASTM compliant testing equipment and experienced, highly competent technicians for all of our testing and maintenance.
Consistent, regular testing and reporting over the life of the field is critical to provide you with the information, knowledge and documentation that your fold is within accepted industry guidelines for safety.
